Nawsheen was born and raised in Mauritius, and has never been able to decide between the arts and sciences, even in her tertiary studies.  To the despair of her rather conventional family, she has specialized in the more artsy side of things, hence sacrificing the opportunity to lead a slightly normal professional life.  She retains her passion for people, education, languages, arts and culture with rather scientific rigor, and has interned/worked in diverse settings since university: Louisiana State University, translation projects, Apollo Bramwell Hospital, Society for the Welfare of the Deaf, US Embassy in Mauritius, New York University, City College, art galleries and groups (e.g. Porlwi by Nature), Identical Pictures Ltd, and so on.  Her specialty lies in finding the best cultural and communication strategy amongst different partners who need to be brought together in a spirit of collaboration and growth.

She is now happily working at Ecole du Centre – Collège Pierre Poivre as Cultural Mediator and Communication Specialist, where her main responsibility is to bridge the school with the outside world.  In her free time, she consults with independent groups and associations regarding cultural transitions and communication, dabbles in the arts (especially creative writing), pretends to live a healthy lifestyle, and loves to walk dogs from PAWS, out in the sugarcane fields, while pondering over our cultural heritage and future.
